Water & National Resources in Sudan

  The Renaissance Dam In 1904 a study was conducted by the United States Bureau of reclamation. The study identified 26 sites for constructing dams in Ethiopia. The most important site was the current Renaissance Dam project, which located on Alabaly River, the largest river in Ethiopia .  The incoming water was estimated by 25 billion cubic meters, the Dam is situated just about 20 km from the Sudanese border in Bani Shangol Region.   • President Bashir commends the sacrifices made by the armed forces

    Singah, Sinnar State, 11-Jan (SUNA) - President of the Republic, Field Marshal Omar Bashir, has commended the many sacrifices made by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and other regular forces, contributing to peace, stability and prevalence of security in the country. President Bashir made the remark in his meeting with the senior officers, officers and ranks of the Armed Forces 17th Brigade in Singah, Sinnar state. The President commended the efforts and sacrifices made by the army and other regular forces in order for the Sudanese people to enjoy stability, security and in protection of the soils of the homeland. The President renewed his commitment to provide every possible assistance to the Armed Forces and help build a strong and capable force that defend the homeland against any challenge and threats which might face the Sudan. The President in his meeting with the military has reviewed the many stages which the armed forces witnessed in the past and the fact that they faced neglect. However the Armed Forces, with the attention and care provided have become robust force in all areas. The President praised the brother, sister and friendly countries that stood by the Sudan and provided all possible assistance in all fields. Ma/ma
